Concelebration with Metropolitan Agafangel

On Thursday, May 9/22, 2014 His Eminence, Metropolitan Agafangel, First Hierarch of the ROCA, together with his entourage visited the Holy Ascension Monastery in Bearsville, NY, where he was received warmly with all the ecclesiastical majesty fitting the First-Hierarch of one of our Sister Churches, by the monastery’s abbot, His Eminence, Metropolitan Demetrius of America, and the entire brotherhood.

During his visit, Metropolitan Agafangel invited Metropolitan Demetrius to concelebrate with him the following Saturday.

On Saturday, May 11/24, 2014, the feast day of the Enlighteners of the Slavs, Sts. Cyril and Methodius, His Eminence, Metropolitan Demetrius of America, concelebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in Middleburg, NY - the residence of Archbishop Andronik - presided over by Metropolitan Agafangel. Also concelebrating were Archbishop Andronik, and Bishops Afanasii, Kirill, and Nikolai.

Metropolitan Demetrius gave a sermon during which he spoke of the significance of Sts. Cyril and Methodius and how they are the symbols of unity between the Greek and Russian Churches.
